Grade 4: Abstract Art Inspired by Kandinsky

Updated: Mar 28, 2020

The Grade 4 class has begun exploring the abstract artwork of Wassily Kandinsky. To help the students understand the importance of music in his work, I had them engage in a drawing exercise in which they listened to classical music (Vivaldi - The Four Seasons, Recomposed by Max Richter), while drawing. The aim of the exercise was to encourage the students to move their pencil with the rhythm and energy of the music- in a improvised and expressive way. I was very impressed with the level of focus the students displayed while creating their drawings! Bravo!
